I am marking the start of the year with this campaign for IFoA Council. Please come back for further updates - my plan is to issue a regular newsletter (starting from February) and record ad hoc announcements here.

I am delighted to say that my campaign is now ready for launch. It took much longer than I expected! However most of the extra time was due to some extremely helpful constructive feedback from some good actuarial friends and I want to take this opportunity to extend them my gratitude for all of their insightful comments.
I am waiting on confirmation of whether my presentation can be classed as eligible for the purposes of Professional Skills Training. I hope to confirm the position soon.

I have received some helpful guidance from the Professional Skills Training Team of the IFoA. I have quoted the key extracts on the webpage containing my presentation to enable my actuarial peers to judge whether they may claim CPD in respect of the video.

I have completed the process for putting myself forward for IFoA Council and wish to extend my thanks to my proposer and seconder for their support. Voting opens shortly (Thursday 5 June) so I have been busy making the case for my campaign, both online and in-person.
August 2025
A somewhat belated update to my website, but I wanted to record the key parts of my statement that I published on LinkedIn at the start of July:

The results of the 2025 election for IFoA Council have now been published. Unfortunately I failed to secure the democratic mandate for my platform, despite the 279 voters who endorsed it. Nonetheless I am pleased that I was afforded the opportunity to raise the talking points that I put out and I hope that my actuarial peers found the content thought-provoking.

I want to take this opportunity to congratulate those elected and extend my very best wishes to each of them as they assume their responsibilities as IFoA Council members.

I want to conclude by reiterating my thanks to everyone who supported me during this initiative.

For anyone interested in the exact numbers, I have taken a record of them here.

I am now shifting my attention to some personal projects. I am keen to make use of this website as a resource to support my endeavours so I expect to revamp it. However I ma balancing this against other commitments, so it will probably be some time in H1 2026 before the revised website is up!

Best wishes
