Privacy and GDPR
My privacy and GDPR policy is set out below:
1. Data Collection and Use
I collect your email address when you subscribe to my newsletter. This information is used predominantly for the purpose of sending you the newsletter and any other updates associated with my campaign for Council.
I also collect names and actuarial reference numbers from some subscribers by means of a follow-up email. I use this information to better tailor how these supporters are addressed in my newsletter and it also allows me to keep track of how many votes I am on track to receive in the forthcoming IFoA Council election.
2. Legal Basis for Processing
I process your personal data (email address, name and actuarial reference number) based on your consent. By subscribing to the newsletter, you give me permission to use these data items for the purposes detailed above.
3. Consent
Your consent for receiving the newsletter is provided by signing up using the forms on my website. You can withdraw your consent at any time by unsubscribing from the newsletter via the link provided in every email I send.
4. Data Sharing
I do not share, sell, or rent your personal data to any third parties. However, I use a third-party service for sending the newsletters. This service provider is GDPR compliant and has agreed to process your data only on my instructions and in compliance with GDPR requirements.
5. Data Security
I take reasonable steps to protect your personal data from unauthorized access or disclosure. My email service provider uses industry-standard security measures to ensure data protection.
6. Data Retention
I will retain your personal data as long as you are subscribed to the newsletter. Once you unsubscribe, I will delete your email address and other data items from the mailing list within a reasonable timeframe, unless there is another legal basis to keep it.
7. Your Rights
Under GDPR, you have several rights concerning your personal data:
Right to Access: You can request details about the personal data I hold about you.
Right to Rectification: If your email address changes or you find that I have incorrect information, you can ask me to correct it.
Right to Erasure: You can request the deletion of your email address from my records.
Right to Object: You can object to me processing your email address for direct marketing purposes.
To exercise these rights, please contact me at Sheridan@rssfitzgibbon.co.uk.
8. Complaints
If you have any concerns about how I handle your data, I would encourage you to contact me first using the email address Sheridan@rssfitzgibbon.co.uk. However, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK's supervisory authority for data protection issues.
9. Discretion in Subscription Management
Please note that I reserve the right, at my sole discretion, to refuse to include someone on the newsletter subscription list or to remove them from the list at any time, for any reason.
10. Changes to This Privacy Policy
I may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be posted on this page with an updated date of revision.
